About the role
Veeta resolves everything a company runs on into a single live graph, then answers questions against it in milliseconds. The query engine is what makes that feel instant. We are looking for a senior engineer to push its latency, correctness, and freshness further than anyone has.
What you'll do
- Design and optimize the incremental query planner so saved questions only re-evaluate the nodes that actually changed.
- Build streaming evaluation paths that keep answers correct as events arrive out of order.
- Drive down median and tail latency across query shapes, with hard numbers as your scoreboard.
- Implement permission-aware traversal so every result respects the access rules of the person asking.
- Partner closely with the connectors team on the shape of the graph that feeds the engine.
What we're looking for
- 5+ years building backend systems in a language like Go, Rust, or Java.
- Real experience with query engines, databases, or distributed systems.
- A bias toward both correctness and performance, and the discipline to measure both.
- Comfort owning a complex subsystem end to end and explaining the tradeoffs.
Nice to have
- Work with graph databases or graph query languages.
- Experience with change data capture or streaming pipelines.
- A track record of query optimization that moved real numbers.
